Faithco This Week:

There is a lot going on at Faithco:  Here’s a few reflections and updates:

1.  Last week, we kicked off a new message series called BLIND FAITH.  If you weren’t here, go to http://www.faithco.tv to watch it.  We began by defining faith.  I’ll write about this message in a future blog. This week’s message will be BLIND FAITH –The Walk of Faith.  Don’t miss this one –this is really life changing stuff.

UPCOMING:

1.  Did you know that Vanz (my incredible daughter) is president of the Shawnee High School FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes)? Yes, I’m proud of her for her desire to serve her school and community through FCA.  Tonight is a big night for her and the rest of the FCA kids.  They are hosting FIELDS OF FAITH -a national FCA event that will bring between 2-300 kids together in the SHS football stadium for a night of worship and personal spiritual challenge.  All the Pulse (our youth group) volunteers will be there on hand to help set up, cook, and serve in any way we can.  This is a huge blessing and privilege.  Not all US schools have this kind of openness to FCA gatherings.  We can’t take something like this for granted.  Send your teenagers and go and serve if your can.

2.  October is MINISTER APPRECIATION month.  Do something for your pastor and the others who serve in ministry.  Trust me, they are underpaid for what they do;  it is a labor of love.

3.  BIKES FOR KIDS begins this month.  I’ll write about this later.

That’s it.

Faithco Updates

Here are a few thoughts and updates from Faithco:

1.  Last Friday, Pulse put on a 5th Quarter event for Shawnee High School.  We had a good turnout and had a great time.  I especially enjoyed the dance off, although I didn’t participate.  This Friday, Shawnee will have its Homecoming and we will have another 5th Quarter event.  Spread the word; it will be awesome.

2.  The weekend worship gatherings were awesome.  I always enjoy hearing and sharing what God is doing through the lives of his people who are generous.  If you didn’t get to be here, go to http://www.faithco.tv and watch the message.  Even if you don’t have the time to watch the whole message, forward to the end where I share Sarah’s story (video).  You’ve got to see this one.

3.  The Building Faith campaign continues to grow.  We received our monthly offering and we are approaching $200,000 in contributions towards our $2 mill goal.  Exciting stuff!

4.  FRIENDS Connect groups met in homes for the first time this season.  We are getting some positive feedback from the group leaders.  If you’re not part of a FRIENDS Connect group, pick up some info at Guest Services and get connected.  These groups are life changing.  –ask someone…

UPCOMING:

1.  We kick off a new series this Sunday called BLIND FAITH.  Don’t miss this series.

2.  BIKES FOR KIDS is just around the corner.  Don’t forget to start putting money back for a bike or two for a few kids in our community.

that’s all for now.

FCO Updates:

I’ve been either out of town or out of pocket lately and haven’t been posting. I thought today would be a good day to get back in routine and let you know what has been going on lately at Faithco.  Also, I want to give you some updates on what to expect over the next few weeks:

1.  Pulse has started a fifth quarter event here on Friday nights after the home games.  The last fifth quarter was awesome and the next one will be this Friday after the SHS home game against Norman.  Although it is scheduled for high school and middle school kids, we always are looking for adult volunteers for set up, break down, clean up, and over all supervision.  Think about it, you’ll have a blast.

2.  We concluded the series INTERVENTION this past Sunday.   Deana did an amazing job communicating just how God speaks to us.  If you weren’t here, try to go watch this message at http://www.faithco.tv.  Really, it was an amazing message (ignore the stories about me).

3.  FRIENDS OF SUMMER was the best Friends event we’ve had.  It was a great way to kick off our new Friends season.  Make sure you are a part of a Friends small group.  Being a part of a Friends community group has got to be a top priority for all of us at Faithco.

What’s Coming:

This Sunday we will revisit what we are planning to do in our future and receive our monthly Building Faith Offering.

BLIND FAITH -New series in October; don’t miss it.  The subject of faith is one of my favorite.  Get ready to change; I know we all will.

One more thing, there is a Dream Girls event tonight at 6:30pm.  These events draw women from our entire community, not just from our church.  If you are a chic, be there and bring a friend….life changing stuff.

that’s it for now…

Faithco News and Updates:

I just wanted to share some of the great things that are happening at Faithco:

1.  Pulse Youth last week was awesome.  Rolondo, one of the guys who volunteer at Pulse on Wednesday’s shared his story.  It was awesome.  Pulse continues to grow with lots of momentum.  Pulse is going to Eufala Lake this weekend to have some fun.  I suppose I will volunteer for this event :).

2.  Discovery 2 met last Wednesday with Deana directing the personality test that we give all newcomers.  It is always interesting to see what people learn about themselves and each other.  We believe that as people learn about themselves, they can better choose where God may be leading them to serve.  This Wednesday, Discovery 3 will be the spiritual gifting test.  This test identifies and brings into focus the God-given gifts we all possess.  These sessions continue to be life changing.

3.  The INTERVENTION Series just keeps getting more interesting.  I still believe that this series will change a lot of hearts and lives.

Don’t forget:  Baptism (8/31), Building Faith Offering (9/4),  Communion (9/7), Power Team (9/11), Friends Connect groups kick off with a group Olympics theme (9/18).

I don’t say it enough:  Thanks for being a part of Faithco.

that’s it

Faithco Events and Updates:

I am excited about the things that are happening at Faithco.  Here’s a quick look at last week and some upcoming events here at church:

1.  Pulse youth continues to grow; Kimmy Huxford delivered a great message to the youth about God’s grace and how it cleanses us.   Pulse is always a blast, and the food is always great!

2.  I spoke at our Discovery 1 session.  We are talking to 5 new families who are exploring church membership, church volunteerism and service, FRIENDS connect groups, and all the other topics of Newcomers and Discovery123.  People continue to join our church.  A healthy church is a growing church.

3.   I kicked off a new series called INTERVENTION.  This series explores how God sends people into the lives of others to confront them where and how they need to be confronted.  Last weekend we discussed how Abigail intervened in David’s life and kept him from murdering an innocent man.  This was a powerful message; I recommend that you check it out at http://www.faithco.tv if you were gone on Sunday.  Also, don’t miss the next parts of the series.  I believe they will be powerful messages.

4.  Things to remember:

  • August 31 –Baptism Celebration –Always a great time!
  • Sept 11-12 Next Generation Power Team — This will be something different.
  • FRIENDS Connect groups are gearing up for the new season; make sure you get connected.
  • Building Faith, the campaign for our new campus is on schedule.  Remember, we receive a monthly offering for commitments on the first Sunday of each month.  Be a part of the campaign by committing to give monthly.  No pressure…. just think about it.  It’s a good cause.
  • That’s it.

Faithco News:

Last week was as exciting as it was busy around our church campus:

1.  Last week all our kids returned from camp –Changed!  Really, talk to them; the camps we are sending our kids to are the best in the nation.  Dry Gulch and Youth America are the summer kid’s and youth camps our kids attend each year.  I actually got to visit our Pulse kids at Youth America last Wednesday, I have never seen a youth camp worship as power-packed as the one I experienced at Youth America.  We are fortunate to have these camps in-state.  I can’t tell you just how important it is to make sure you send your kids…….I should dedicate a whole blog to the subject…hmm.

2.  It is good to see the effects of the iServe series.  People are connecting with me at our services and asking where they can get involved.  As I said before, this series will change our church forever.

3.  I don’t think all our people are familiar with all the things we did overseas last year in Cambodia and in Haiti.   I believe it was powerful to see the video footage and documentation of our trips.  It was also great to see Jesse McCaul.  I especially liked the “your favorite Cambodian Missionary” statement.  Bobby did a great job on the video and images.

4.  Lastly, Friends of Summer’s Talent showcase was so much fun.  From the cookout to the show, it was a blast.  It was great to see and to hear Faithco’s up and coming talent.

that’s it

Faithco News:

Here are a few updates from Faithco:

1.  We sent about 40 kids to camp this week.  It will be quiet around here for the next 4-5 days.  We are praying for every one of them to encounter God in some way as they focus on God and each other.

2.  Last Sunday we kicked off a new series called iServe.  I believe this will be one of the most powerful message series we’ve ever done.  We are challenging people to lead, serve, and to give as never before.  Every member is a minister; we teach this in our newcomers’ sessions.

3.  For some reason, we’ve had a lot of new babies born this summer.  What’s the deal?  You people need to get a hobby.  Just kidding, I love it. We are having a baby dedication July 31st for all these babies.  Good times.

4.  Finally, Friends of Summer kicks off this Sunday night with FCO’s Got Talent.  I believe we have around 8-10 people who have signed up for our annual talent showcase.  If you think you’ve got talent, you can still sign up, but there is a  limited amount of space since we don’t want to be here all night.  Also, we will be having a big cookout before the show.  Watch our Facebook page for more info.

That’s it.
